Mademoiselle Pirate Dress

Project Run and Play is sponsoring a challenge again and this month it features the Mademoiselle muscle shirt from Living with Punks!  As soon as I saw the muscle shirt in the red/white stripe combo I thought about pirates. I had this adorable pirate cotton print fabric and somehow wanted to use it. I started by increasing the size of the tee pattern to a size 7.  I then wanted to add a skirt using the pirate print fabric.  I chose to use the Farbenmix Insa skirt pattern.  So I cut out the under skirt using the pirate fabric and paired it with a black/white dot. The bottom of the muscle tee fit perfect with the top of the insa skirt. After the two were sewn together I knew it needed more. I then chose to add the ruffle (in a true pirate stripe) to the bottom of the skirt. Then the top was kind of plain so I used my embroidery machine to applique a pirate map and added it to the top. I will confess it is not sewn on yet.... still deciding if I like it or not. So here is the dress that started with a muscle tee. I hope you like it.

The Bubble Outfit

Wow it has been forever since I have written anything on this blog.  It took Project Run and Play and the link up party to get me to sit down and add a new post.  So here goes. I have been a follower of Project Run and Play for years. When I saw the new format this year and that each month there would be a challenge I thought I need to be part of it. The challenge for January was to take Alida's Bubble Skirt tutorial and make something out of it. What I have done is made two separate pieces a top and a double bubble skirt. I have decided to call it my going green outfit since I have been attempting to go green in many aspects of my life.  I hope you like it.
